TipSnip: Small rodents and animals will often turn to eating the bark off young trees come winter time as a source of food. To avoid losing your trees to these pests, wrap the tree trunks in a double layer of aluminum foil in late fall. Be sure to wrap up high enough to deter animals that will reach up on hind legs. Remove the foil come spring.
